If there are no open positions, what is the reason that the unrealised PnL fluctuates?
This happens if you buy and sell today whereas the value date (also known as the settlement date) is still two business days in the future (T+2).
For example, if you have a USD account and you traded USDJPY then your profit or loss will be in JPY with a value date two business days in the future. Therefore even if you have no open position, you will still see the P&L change slightly as the system keeps converting the JPY back to USD at the current exchange rate. When the trades value date is the same as current date, then the JPY is converted to USD permanently.
